We’re excited to announce that Phil Townend, Unruly’s Chief Commercial Officer, Asia Pacific has been shortlisted for Ad Tech Personality of the Year at The Wires APAC! In its 5th year, and new to APAC, Ad Tech Personality of the Year recognises an individual, who has had a significant impact on, and made a significant contribution to the ad tech industry. Phil joined Unruly in 2010 as it’s first executive hire. As EMEA MD, Phil grew the European business to six offices before leaving for Singapore to launch Unruly APAC in April 2014. In an effort to showcase great advertising and demonstrate how Mumbrella’s site can be used as a tool to reach a large audience of marketers, the company decided to host its own ‘best ad’ contest for new and original work. The idea was to seek out the most creative and progressive ideas the industry had to offer. Unruly came out on top and was chosen by Mumbrella’s editorial team and Mumbrella readers as one of two winners alongside Trouble Brewing. The AOP Digital Publishing Awards are the only awards specifically designed to celebrate the work of the individuals and teams who fuel the success of the UK’s digital publishing sector. The Operations Team of the Year Award seeks to recognise the contribution of the often-unsung heroes of online publishing – the advertising operations teams who ensure that all the creative innovations and incremental commercial opportunities are effectively implemented. Exciting news! We’ve been shortlisted in the Best Use of Technology category at the Digiday Media Awards Europe for the work we did with fast food giant, Burger King, on ‘The Whopper Dog’ campaign. The Digiday Media Awards Europe recognise the companies, campaigns and technology modernising European media. Over the past few years, these awards have honoured leading work from brands, agencies, publishers and tech providers alike. The winners will be announced on the 9th of May at One Marylebone in London. We wish everyone who has been shortlisted the best of luck and look forward to seeing everyone in May. Over the past twelve months, the Product Team have supported Unruly’s goal to be the video marketplace advertisers and publishers can trust. The UK branch of the IAB has confirmed that Unruly has qualified for Gold Standard Certification. Nearly 70 companies are fully certified for the IAB UK Gold Standard. By qualifying for certification they have committed to: 1. Reduce ad fraud through the implementation of, or by demonstrating support for, the IAB Tech Lab’s ads.txt initiative. Ads.txt allows domain owners to list who is authorised to sell their inventory, preventing the selling of spoofed or fake inventory. 2. Increase brand safety by becoming certified signatories to the JICWEBS Digital Trading Standards Group (DTSG) Brand Safety Principles (for current non-signatories) or by continuing to have their policies and processes independently verified (for current signatories). 3. Improve the digital advertising experience for consumers by adhering to the IAB Tech Lab’s LEAN Principles and the standards set by the Coalition for Better Ads. Full certification is a two stage process.
We’re excited to announce that we’ve made it into Ad Age’s Best Places to Work in the US list again! Work life is changing, so Ad Age rebooted its annual Best Places to Work report to better capture what matters most in today’s workplace and to explore what makes a great place to work. Ad Age Best Places to Work 2019—produced in partnership with Latitude Research—identifies 50 workplaces that get the job done: 25 companies with 200 or fewer employees and 25 companies with more than 200 employees. Winners reflect the highest overall numerical scores based on an analysis of questionnaires submitted by employers and survey responses from thousands of their employees. The tech PR agency Tyto recently announced their Tech 500 Power List 2018, revealing the most influential individuals in the UK tech sector. The list aims to highlight the fact that small company leaders and independent tech evangelists are outranking representatives of large tech firms when it comes to being heard. Tyto compiled the list by collaborating with a communications research firm to develop a methodology that identifies and tracks tech influencers across twenty sub-sectors and nine influencer groups in the UK. Unruly’s co-founder Sarah Wood made the list alongside influencers from TechCrunch, Blogger, Twitter, The BBC and Facebook. Head here to see the full list.
