Nakano to drive Tremor International company’s new cross-screen offering across Japan, including CTV, In-App and In-stream services
TOKYO— December 9, 2020 – Leading video ad platform Unruly today announced it has promoted Wataru Nakano to Country Manager, Japan.
Nakano, who previously held the position of Sales Director, will head up all operational and commercial activity for the ad tech company across Japan.
He will be responsible for driving Unruly’s continued growth across the Japanese market, including rolling out the additional CTV, In-App and In-stream services added following its acquisition by Tremor International at the start of 2020.
Nakano, who is based in Unruly’s Tokyo office and has worked in digital advertising for 14 years, knows the role well after taking on the position on an interim basis in December 2019. Prior to joining Unruly in 2016, Nakano was Senior New Business Manager, Demand, Japan, at Vungle. Previously, he was Business Development Manager at Criteo and Head of Ad Sales at RealNetworks.
Nakano will report directly to Unruly’s Group MD, International, Alex Khan.
Khan said: “We’re absolutely delighted to have someone of Wataru’s experience and market knowledge to lead our team in Japan as we continue to roll out our powerful all-screens offering around the world. Unruly has changed from outstream video specialist to become one of the leading video advertising platforms in the world following Tremor’s acquisition at the start of 2020. Having someone of Wataru’s incredible leadership skills in a key market for Unruly will be crucial as we continue to drive greater value for our clients.”
To help Nakano achieve these targets, Unruly is planning to add to its growing 10-man Tokyo team in the new year.
Nakano said: “I’m extremely excited and proud to lead Unruly’s business in Japan. This is an exciting new chapter for the company, and I can’t wait to speak to our clients and partners about our rapidly increasing tech capabilities and expanding range of ad formats, across all screens. In my new role, I’ll continue to do all I can to help our advertisers, agencies and partners smash their performance goals.”
A pioneer in bringing emotional intelligence to the digital advertising ecosystem, Unruly’s innovative tech, unique audience insights and creative solutions enable brands and agencies to seamlessly engage global consumers in premium, brand-safe environments.
Publishers also use Unruly’s global relationships with premium demand partners, user-friendly ad formats, self-serve tools and dedicated support team to maximize their revenue across a range of different screens, including CTV, mobile and desktop.
Nakano has an MBA from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, and an Innovation and Entrepreneurship Certificate from Stanford University. He is also a member of Beta Gamma Sigma, an academic honor society for top business school students.
