Honda Makes Dreams & Under Armour Is Unlike Any Other: 5 Ads You Should Watch Right Now

Every week Unruly scours the world wide web for the best and brightest ads, and then puts them all together in this handy list – so you can catch up before the weekend.

This week’s batch includes comic spots from Taco Bell and British Airways, alongside visually striking ads from Honda and Under Armour.

Elsewhere in the list we have an agile piece of content from Nike which highlights the seemingly-unstoppable prowess of Roger Federer.

This focus on the talent and career of single athlete also reappears at the end of our list, thanks to the launch of Under Armour’s new series of ads – ‘Unlike Any’. This series focuses on female athletes across various disciplines and has famous poets tell the story of their lives.

The end result is charismatic and highly-watchable and seems certain to guarantee the brand some nods when award season rolls around.

So, without further ado, enjoy!

5. Taco Bell – Better Together

For every genre of ad, there’s alway a brand and creative agency willing to make a no-holds-barred parody. This spot from Taco Bell is a clever and undeniably funny take-down of ‘sadvertising’, specifically ‘reunion ads’. The ad reunites two friends that haven’t seen each other in a bit, but who are still pretty close. It’s smart, refreshing, and, importantly – it doesn’t take itself too seriously.

4. Nike – RO8ER

Sports brands are always in a prime position to create agile content, especially after a surprise win or controversial moment. Now, Federer’s victory at Wimbledon might not have been controversial, but it was certainly noteworthy. This short ad from Nike celebrates the player’s incredible 8 victories in a punchy, arrogant way that totally fits the star’s persona.

3. Honda – Dream Makers

Ever wondered how ads are made? Well, this short spot from Honda and Channel 4 attempts to give us all a glimpse into the creative process. The ad quickly cuts between four different concepts and vehicles, following the process from storyboarding, animation and filming in an engaging and unique way.

2. British Airways – Safety Video

Though technically not an ad, this brilliant safety video from British Airways has grabbed headlines this week thanks to its star-studded (and we do mean star-studded) cast and great comic writing. It’s also a testament to actor and comedian Asim Chaudry (Chabuddy G) that in a film awash with A-listers he stands out and is consistently hilarious.

1. Under Armour – Unlike Any

Every once in a while an ad comes along that makes you sit up and pay attention. It grabs you and draws you in. Under Armour is starting to get into the habit of making these ads. The brand’s consistent focus on showing single athletes and their journeys always makes for engrossing content – and the new ‘Unlike Any’ series does exactly that. The stylishly stark visuals and cinematography are overlayed with mesmeric narration from various poets, each telling the story of the ad’s subject.
