Cannes Countdown: 5 Beach Sessions You Can’t Miss At #CannesLions
So we’ve run you through the best formal panels, speaker sessions and debates (for publishers and advertisers alike) at Cannes Lions 2016 – but what about the rest of the festival?
Every year media brands, tech giants, and curious start-ups set up camp on the beaches of Cannes to give us a slice of something different, and this year we’ve picked out some highlights, so you can make the most of your time.
So without further ado, enjoy!
1. Haymarket Hive – PM MOBILE: Ways Brands & Agencies Can Win The Data War
Wednesday, 22 June, 14:00-14:45
Haymarket’s Hive will be in full swing at Cannes Lions, with a number of insightful events on offer. Join Campaign, DMN, Medialets and a panel of senior level clients on Wednesday as they discuss the problems and solutions of managing mobile data in a post-cookie world.
2. Facebook – 360 Video and Spatial Storytelling at the Speed of Feed
Wednesday, 22 June, 15:00-15:30 @ Hotel Barriere Le Majestic Beach and Pier
Facebook has been a stalwart of the Cannes seafront for a few years now and with VR and 360 video on everyone’s minds this year, it makes sense that the world’s biggest social network has something interesting to say.
3. French Camp
Monday, 20 June, 17:00-18:00 @ Goéland Beach
This year marks the second iteration of the ‘French Camp’ at Cannes, which promises an authentic French experience, complete with wine, cheese and even a game of the classic French sport petanque.
Tuesday, 21 & Wednesday, 22 June, 18:00-21:00 @ Le Grand Hotel Gardens
While not technically on the ‘beach’, this year is extra special as it’s the Havas Café’s tenth anniversary. Take a break from the networking and join them to watch the football on Tuesday and Wednesday – if you’ve registered.
Tuesday, 21 June, 20:30-22:30 @ The Terrace at the Palais des Festivals
And now for something completely different. Pixels of Fury is a live design competition hosted by Shutterstock which pits 6 designers against each other in front of a live audience in order to win a big cash prize. Certainly unlike anything else you might see during the week, if you fancy a break from all the talking – this might just be for you.
