Itchy Bits And Silly Skits: 5 Ads You Should Watch Right Now
Spouses get a shock when they see their partner 50 years older and kangaroo men get caught in the headlights. It could only happen in Adland!
After a week watching the best (and sadly worst) video ads on the web, we’ve picked the five essential ones to watch so you can spend the rest of your time enjoying the weekend.
So without further ado, here is our weekly round-up of the five ads you should watch right now.
5. Tommy John – The Adjustment
Ah, yes, the “readjustment”.
What’s great about this ad from boxer short company Tommy John is that it’s both helpful and informative. Helpful as it will make guys be a lot less unintentionally creepy. Informative for women as now we know what all those hand actions were actually about and we can be a bit more understanding.
Still though, a bit of discretion, lads.
4. Toyota USA
Guess who’s back? Yep, you guessed it (or not) – Doc and Marty have been reunited, but sadly there’s not going to be another film. They’re in fact reminiscing on all the predictions the film got right. Crazily, it’s quite a few. Don’t forget to tune in on October 21st for Back To The Future Day.
3. CarAdvice – Headlights
One for the laughs, Australia’s automotive content publisher CarAdvice wants you to know that when they say they test every last detail of every new car, they mean it.
We won’t ruin it for you but this kangaroo man skit had us in stitches. Perfect content to get your Friday face on.
2. Ulta Beauty
Heartbreak turns to hope in this emotional spot for cosmetics retailer Ulta Beauty. As she receives her first hair cut after losing it during her treatment, cancer victim Tracy DeSoto shares her story of how her beauty confidence was shattered after falling ill.
Tracy delivers her powerful lines twice, firstly with a deep pessimism and despair that will bring tears to your eyes. However, when she reads the lines backwards the second time, the words are filled with a massive sense of resilience and optimism.
What makes this video so great is the authenticity of the words which so many cancer victims can relate to.
1. Emirates NBD
Choosing your life partner is arguably the most important decision of your life. After that comes the responsibility of looking at them for the rest of their days and Emirates NBD is encouraging young couples to start preparing for those latter years.
Taking inspiration from this emotional social experiment that went viral back in May, the banking group surprises unsuspecting individuals with a glimpse into the future with their other halves.
In the touching video, spouses are invited into a house hung with pictures from pivotal moments in the past. They then enter a room where their partner sits waiting, made-up with prosthetics to look 50 years older, and that’s when the waterworks begin to flow.
Is someone cutting onions in here?
