A Terminator Surprise And A View Through Dad’s Eyes: 5 Ads You Should Watch Right Now

Arnold Schwarzenegger freaks out fans and real men find out they’re going to be dads for the first time. That’s right, it’s just another week in AdLand!

After a week watching the best (and worst) video advertisements on the net, we’ve picked the five essential ones to watch so you can spend the rest of your time enjoying the weekend.

So without further ado, here is our weekly round-up of the five ads you should watch right now.

Enjoy!

5. After School All-Stars

He said he’d be back and here he is!

Arnold Schwarzenegger has pledged to “do every fun and ridiculous thing I can do” to elevate the issue of keeping children safe and helping them succeed and it looks like he’s keeping his word.

Selfie-stick in tow, the ex-Mr.Universe took to Hollywood Boulevard and Madame Tussauds to freak out fans and raise money for his After School All-Stars charity.

It’s not all fun and scares though, cringe levels soar to an all-time high when he has an awkward encounter with a Terminator impersonator.

4. Toyota Japan

There are two sides of every story and that’s what we see in Toyota Japan’s latest campaign ahead of Father’s Day as it captures the ups and downs of a father-daughter relationship.

The car manufacturer shows us a father’s perspective of bringing a little girl into the world; from watching her grow from a tiny baby, to a moody teenager, and finally to a woman with her own family. We then see their lives through his daughters eyes, as she watches her ever-smiling father always looking out for her.

The ad cleverly catches the viewer off-guard, showing how happiness can be quickly taken away in the blink of an eye in order to promote its safe sensor feature.

3. Breast Cancer Now

Breast Cancer Campaign and Breakthrough Breast Cancer have joined forces to create Breast Cancer Now, a merger charity that aims to put an end to the life-threatening disease.

To launch the new charity, the group has released ‘The Last One’, a emotionally powerful ad that shows real women and the devastating issues they have to face with breast cancer.

2. Google

In the middle of Pride Month, many brands have been jumping at the chance to feature the LGBTQ community in their campaigns, but the one that stood out the most was this video by Google My Business.

We meet Jacob, a transgender man making the challenging transition from female to male, and Hailee Bland Walsh whose inclusive gym is helping him build the body he’s always wanted. The ad highlights how one person’s small business can have a huge impact on another’s life.

1. Dove Men+Care

Many of us will inevitably spend part of the weekend frantically looking for unique presents for our papas (only to end up with a pair of dodgy socks or two). But Dove’s latest campaign reminds us to take a step back and remember the real meaning of the day; family and the moments they share together, right from the start.

The personal care brand strips it all back, showing a montage of real men finding out they’ll be fathers for the first time, and it’s goosebump-inducing stuff.

So when you visit your Dad this Sunday, remember he once had that very special moment of finding out about you.
