  • Online video needs “fundamental rethink”

    New research by Unruly, the IPA and renowned marketing consultant Peter Field, reveals link between video content and real-world outcomes but marketers need to find a new approach. New findings have been released from joint research with marketing consultant Peter Field and the IPA, into how emotional and cognitive responses to video content correlate to real-world outcomes for brands. The ground-breaking study analysed campaigns from the IPA Effectiveness Databank, where video was a key component. “This study confirms that to flourish as a brand-building medium capable of driving long-term growth for brands, online video needs a fundamental rethink of metrics and models, focussing on the creation of intense emotional responses.   • New client-powered working group launched to tackle digital marketing challenges

    Today, we announced the launch of the UNext: a new client-powered working group that will help tackle digital marketing challenges. Backed and directed by the U7, Unruly’s global client council, the UNext will hold its first event during the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity in June. The new initiative was presented to U7 members at its recent London Summit (18 March) as part of an agenda that included Professor Karen Nelson-Field and News UK’s Rebekah Brooks. The UNext is a series of working groups made up of representatives from Unruly brand and agency partners.     Exciting news! We’ve been shortlisted in the Best Use of Technology category at the Digiday Media Awards Europe for the work we did with fast food giant, Burger King, on ‘The Whopper Dog’ campaign. The Digiday Media Awards Europe recognise the companies, campaigns and technology modernising European media. Over the past few years, these awards have honoured leading work from brands, agencies, publishers and tech providers alike. The winners will be announced on the 9th of May at One Marylebone in London. We wish everyone who has been shortlisted the best of luck and look forward to seeing everyone in May.     We’re excited to announce that our SVP of Data Partnerships, Sam Sherson, will be speaking at NextM Stockholm in April.   • Metrics, transparency and quality journalism top the U7 London agenda

    Earlier this week on Monday 18 March, the U7 met at Unruly’s London headquarters for the second U7 Summit.  With an agenda titled ‘Trust & Transparency’, the Summit explored issues around transparency, viewability metrics and the relationship between advertising and quality content. “Last year we launched the U7 in New York and it was a great opportunity to get representatives from the biggest advertisers and agencies on the planet into one room.     UN Women is an international charity, focused on priority areas that are fundamental to women’s equality, and that can unlock progress across the board. As part of International Women’s Day 2019 UN Women launched an amazing campaign focussed around the unheard stories of inspirational women.
