Steamy Affairs And Puppy Dog Stares: 5 Ads You Should Watch Right Now

A steamy affair in front of a husband, an emotional goodbye to a best friend and a time-travelling lift. That’s right, it’s another week in AdLand!

After a week watching the best (and worst) video advertisements on the net, we’ve picked the five essential ones to watch so you can spend the rest of your time enjoying the weekend.

So without further ado, here is our weekly round-up of the five ads you should watch right now.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

5. Apple Music –  History Of Sound

One of the hottest topics of the week, Apple has decided go head to head with Spotify.

In a bid to hype up the new product, Apple has released a nostalgic ad that chronicles the “History of Sound“, taking the viewer on a 127-year long journey of musical innovation.

Now, let’s see if the product itself will stand the test of time.

4. Harlequin Books – Escape With A Harlequin Romance

Ever wanted to have a steamy affair but didn’t want to do the dirty on the other half?  Well, Harlequin Books has the answer for you.

Harlequin’s seductive romance novels mean you can get it on with your dream man wherever you want, whenever you want – and your partner will never know.

3. HSBC – The Lift

HSBC gets it right on so many levels with its latest time travelling ad, showing 40 years of elevator rides throughout a man’s life as he builds his own business.

In the totally dialogue-free film,  we see the ups and downs that play out over his career as he makes his way to the top.

Now, who said elevators were boring?

2. MILES Chile – Abortion Tutorial “Traffic Lights”

In a provocative series of three fictitious tutorials, MILES Chile highlights the only legal ways to have an abortion in the South American country: do it yourself.

One of the more difficult campaigns to watch, the ads show three heavily pregnant women film themselves while explaining and acting out the best ways to purposefully lose a baby.

Be warned though, the ads may be quite distressing to watch for some.

1. Patagonia – Denali

It being Friday and all, I didn’t intend to conclude on a sad note. However, this short film about a man’s final farewell to his dog is so breathtakingly beautiful, it’s worthy of nothing other than the number one spot.

Completely captivating throughout its lengthy 7mins 45seconds, Denali follows the heartbreaking tale of photographer Ben Moon and his faithful best friend as they spend their final days together.

Prepare to be taken on an emotional rollercoaster as the two revisit their favourite places together one last time, while reminiscing on the unbreakable bond they shared through thick and thin.

With subtle branding by Patagonia so respectably non-intrusive, you’d be surprised to know it’s even an ad at all.
