Creepy Cyborgs And Hysterical Babies: 5 Ads You Should Watch Right Now

Brits are creeped out by fake cyber maids, babies laugh maniacally and Volvo tunes into the trackvertising trend.  Yep, it’s just another week in Adland!

After a week watching the best (and worst) video advertisements on the net, we’ve picked the five essential ones to watch so you can spend the rest of your time enjoying the weekend.

So without further ado, here is our weekly round-up of the five ads you should watch right now.

Enjoy and have a great weekend!

5. NGO Life Support Group (Giv) – The HIV Poster

Ogilvy Brazil erected posters around Sao Paulo in a campaign to eradicate uneducated prejudice towards those infected with HIV. The posters contained real drops of HIV positive blood in a bid to educate locals on the ways that the virus can and cannot be spread.

The video is beautifully shot and packs an emotional punch, as we see pedestrians coming face to face with the owners of the blood.

4. TrueMove H – Compassion is True Communication

Thai mobile carrier TrueMove H has gone all out in its latest commercial, which boasts production quality that make it look more like a motion picture than an ad.

It features a prisoner of war whose faith in humanity is restored when he is shown empathy by a local Thai girl, highlighting that real communication doesn’t necessarily need to involve any speaking.

3. Humans – Persona Synthetics TV Commercial: The New Generation

If you have been watching Channel 4 this week you’ve probably been freaked out by this creepy commercial for ‘Persona Synthetics’ cyborg maids.

It literally gave us nightmares, but the good news is it’s actually fake and just a very clever ad for the network’s new series, Humans.

2. Volvo – Avicii ‘Feeling Good’

You may have already seen Swedish producer Avicii’s latest video for his rework of the soul classic “Feeling Good”, but did you realise that it’s actually an ad for Volvo cars?

More and more brands are jumping on the ‘trackvertising’ wagon in a cheeky bid to get their videos seen by a mass audience.  What can we say, it works – Shakira’s catchy ‘La La La’ music video was actually an Activia ad and has been shared over 6 million times, making it the most shared ad of all time!

1. Coca-Cola – Choose to Smile

You cannot beat a video of a laughing baby, ever. Screaming goats are pretty awesome and so are cats, but babies in fits of laughter will win in my book every time.

The geniuses at Coke took it upon themselves to create this awesome compilation to try make us smile, and lo and behold, it did – thanks Coke!
