Unruly Rocks #dmexco2016 With UnPanels And Emotional Intelligence
The dust has finally settled on #dmexco for another year, and 2016 was the biggest so far – with over 50,000 attendees, 300 panels, and 650 stands on the show floor.
Unruly was out in force at the Koelnmesse this year, delivering wow at various panels, as well as showing off the power of emotional intelligence in video advertising at our ever-busy stand.
We kicked off the two-day event with Unruly’s very own ‘UnPanel’. The UnPanel, hosted by Unruly co-CEO and co-founder Sarah Wood, turns your average speaker slot on its head by asking the audience to write topics and questions down on a whiteboard outside the hall before the event.
The ‘panel’ itself is a free-flowing discussion between guest speakers and members of the audience, and this year’s DMEXCO UnPanel took audience participation a step further thanks to quiz-app Kahoot.
Using the Kahoot quiz results, Unruly was able to get a feel for the burning issues DMEXCO attendees just had to talk about.
For instance, two-thirds of UnPanel respondents told us they were currently spending the most on 360 video out of all the trends highlighted – including drones, augmented reality and AI. However, in 5 years’ time they predict they’ll be spending more on augmented reality technologies.
Sarah also presented at the ‘The Prophets: Three Predictions in Five Minutes‘ panel and spoke about the importance of polite ads, purposeful brands and the value of staying agile at a time of upheaval and disruption in the ad industry. You can watch the full talk below.
