Kate Moss In Space And Paul Pogba’s Face: 5 Ads You Should Watch Right Now
With everyone glued to the Olympics at the moment, it can be hard to keep a track of some of the great creatives coming out of Adland.
But don’t worry! Unruly has you covered. We’re here to help with our weekly round-up of the five ads you should watch right now.
This week’s round-up features Paul Pogba dancing, Kate Moss in space and, erm, a man running in a brown coat.
Enjoy!
5. UNIQLO – Why Do We Get Dressed?
How do you decide what to wear every day? Why do we get dressed? These are the questions posed in the first global campaign from UNIQLO. Created by Droga5 New York, the spot sees the Japanese clothing brand get rather philosophical about fashion, asking how we choose the clothes we wear.
Personally, it’s usually the shirt that looks the least creased.
4. Nike – Unlimited Together
Nike has had an interesting Olympics. Rather than pushing out one bombastic, blockbuster ad for the Rio Games, the sports giant has released a number of different ads, which run the gamut in terms of style, length and content.
One of its latest is “Unlimited Together”, a black-and-white ode to the spirit of teamwork. This is due in no small part to the presence of a new track by Chance The Rapper, the musician behind one of the most highly-acclaimed albums of 2016. Nike has certainly learned from the success of the ‘trackvert’ trend, with Chance’s plaintive melodies highlighting videos of the U.S. basketball teams projected onto the buildings of his native Chicago.
3. Charlotte Tilbury – 360° Film: Kate Moss & Scent Of A Dream
‘Not another pretentious perfume ad’, we hear you cry. Well, not so fast. Sure, “Scent of A Dream” – created to promote make-up artist Charlotte Tilbury’s first fragrance – certainly maintains perfume advertising’s high standards of nonsensicality and incongruous imagery. However, we think it’s safe to say there has never been a perfume ad like this ever before.
Gone are the black and white visuals, soppy piano chords and fortune cookie poetry. In its place we have slightly trippy graphics, a rousing soundtrack and an interesting 360° format.
Of course, we still have the supermodel star in Kate Moss, but can this be sign of things to come for perfume ads?
2. Adidas – Pogba x Stormzy
Undoubtedly, one of the biggest football stories of the summer has been Paul Pogba’s record move to Manchester United. But confirmation that the France midfielder would be joining the Red Devils was not first announced on the club’s official website or on the back pages of UK newspapers. Instead, the deal was accidentally leaked by Croydon-born grime artist Stormzy, who stars alongside the former Juventus star in this ad for adidas.
Just before the deal had been confirmed, Stormzy jumped the gun when he posted this video on his Facebook account, which shows him wearing a United shirt with ‘Pogba’ clearly written on the back. He deleted it later, but not before it had been shared widely. PogBOOM indeed!
- Zoological Society London – Imagine A World
Did you know that the world has lost 52% of its wildlife in just 40 years? It’s a shocking statistic revealed in this new video from the ZSL, which shows how the majority of our planet’s most iconic creatures could disappear completely within our lifetimes.
