Unruly Co-CEOs Awarded OBEs In Queen’s 90th Birthday Honours List
We are very excited to announce that Unruly co-CEOs Sarah Wood and Scott Button have been awarded OBEs.
The co-founders of the video ad tech company were today named in the Queen’s 90th Birthday 2016 Honours List for their services to innovation and technology.
They are among a host of tech entrepreneurs honoured. Others include Shazam CEO Andrew Fisher (OBE), Alex Chesterman (OBE), CEO of Zoopla, Swiftkey co-founders Ben Medlock and Jon Reynolds (MBEs), Love Home Swap CEO Debbie Wosskow (OBE), Skyscanner co-founders Bonamy Grimes and Barry Smith (MBEs), Tim Steiner (OBE), CEO of Ocado, Entrepreneur First’s Matt Clifford and Alice Bentinck (MBEs), Hassle.com’s Alex Depledge and Tom Nimmo (MBEs), Moonfruit co-founder Wendy Tan White (MBE) and Eben Upton (CBE), co-founder of Raspberry Pi.
TechCrunch Editor-at-Large Mike Butcher also received an MBE.
Sarah added: “It’s awesome to see strong recognition for UK tech and innovation. This is a great moment to recognise the explosive growth of the UK digital economy and celebrate the vibrant ecosystem of educators, accelerators and investors, working so hard to support tech businesses as they scale.
“With a new wave of entrepreneurial ambition sweeping across the the UK, this is also an opportunity to reaffirm our commitment to encouraging and enabling the next generation of entrepreneurs to realise their ambitions and fulfil their potential.”
Other people to be honoured include singer Rod Stewart, who has been knighted, British astronaut Tim Peake (Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George), Dame Vera Lynn (Companions of Honour), England cricket captain Alastair Cook (CBE), former footballer Alan Shearer (CBE), Janet Street-Porter (CBE), actor Brian Blessed (OBE) and TV presenters Ant and Dec and actor (OBEs).
Sarah added: “The Birthday Honours could not have come at a better time as we’re actually celebrating Unruly’s 10th birthday this week! We’re enormously proud of the whole Unruly team and extremely grateful to our brilliant clients and suppliers who have helped us to scale the global ad tech business that is transforming advertising for the better.”
Sarah and Scott will be given their awards personally by The Queen or by a member of the Royal Family at a special ceremony held at either Buckingham Palace, the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Edinburgh or Windsor Castle within the next few months.
