5 Sessions You Can’t Miss At Advertising Week New York 2016
New York’s Advertising Week commences today. Now in its 13th year, Times Square is about to be taken over by the brightest and most innovative in AdLand.
However, with more than 1,000 speakers in five days, it can be difficult to know which sessions to attend. Well, don’t worry, we’ve rounded up the best discussion and panels from this week so you won’t miss a thing!
Enjoy!
1. Sexism In Advertising and What Brands Should Do
Wednesday, 28 September, 3:30pm @ Thomson Reuters Stage
One of the most popular topics at this year’s Advertising Week NY is diversity and inclusion, with a particular focus on women in the ad industry. This talk with Madonna Badger, who launched Badger & Winter’s #WomenNotObjects campaign earlier this year, is sure to be a powerful and insightful talk.
2. Leadership in a Mobile World
Tuesday, 27 September, 12:00pm @ The Town Hall
This panel on mobile technology and its impact on innovation and leadership features Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook COO, Marc Pritchard, P&G CMO, and Mary Barra, Chairman & CEO General Motors – and is guaranteed to be interesting.
3. AR Comes of Age: Pokemon GO, Purpose and Possibility
Monday, 26 September, 5:00pm @ NASDAQ MarketSuite
AR has been on everybody’s lips this year thanks to the astronomic rise of Niantic’s Pokémon Go. This panel promises to shed light on the app’s success with a discussion between Mathieu de Fayet, VP Strategic Partnerships, Niantic & David Jones, Founder, You & Mr Jones (early investors in Niantic).
4. Man vs. Machine: Putting Humanity Back into the Marketing Mix
Tuesday, 27 September, 9.00am @ Lucille’s at B.B. King
This year we’ve seen a rising number of people realise that emotions matter in advertising, and Ad Week is no exception. In that vein, this discussion from Spotify’s VP, Partner Solutions, Danielle Lee, is focused on marketing to people using tech, rather than the tech people are using.
Monday, 26 September, 2.00pm @ Times Center Stage
This debate promises a lively discussion on big ideas, having a real game plan and quality vs. quantity in the programmatic landscape. Panel members include Tim Cadogan, OpenX CEO, Gregory R. Raifman, President of Rubicon Project, and Mark Zagorski, EVP at Nielsen Marketing Cloud.
Bonus – Don’t expect to see the 4A’s talking about transparency
4A’s president Nancy Hill cancelled her scheduled AW appearance, where she was speaking on a “Trust Panel”. Instead she will conduct a series of meetings across the country to discuss the 4A’s transparency guidelines. The abrupt decision came after a public disagreement over transparency guidelines issued by the ANA.
